Seeds are air dried then machine dried, depending on species. The dry seeds are and packed into small bags to keep them dry during storage. Seeds are shipped in bubble envelopes via air mail, registered air mail or EMS express.
Seeds that cannot be dried out, such as many tropical fruit species, will be picked, cleaned and packed the same day. Standard shipping method is slightly moistened sphagnum moss in a sealed bag. Usually such seeds require express shipping via EMS.
Plants - Leafy / Not succulent
All plants are shipped bare root unless otherwise mentioned. Note that almost all plants must be defoliated (pruned heavily) before shipping and we allow a few days to heal before shipping, so there may be up to a 1 week delay on some species. The defoliated plants are shipped bare root, wrapped in moistened sphagnum moss and placed into a bag for shipping. Most plants require EMS shipping.
Cactus and Succulent Plants = Dry shipping
Cactus and some succulents are not shipped with sphagnum moss and are shipped bare root wrapped in newsprint. These plants must remain dry during transit. Some species, such as Pereskiopsis, will most likely lose leaves during shipping. Many of these species can tolerate longer shipping times and so air mail is also an option for some.
Dried Plant Products
Most herbs and other dried items will be shipped in sealed bags with or without silica gel packs (depends on product). Usually these products can be shipped with any method as they are non-perishable.
