Type of Plant: Opuntia cochenillifera is used commercially to grow a type of insect used for dye. It is also edible for humans, though most people grow this to feed their turtles. The plant grows into a tree fairly fast and is spineless and usually without glochids.

Type of Plant: Opuntia fragilis is a small low growing cactus, often found in very dry grassy areas growing under bushes and by grass clumps. This is one of the few cactus that is actually from Canada and is in fact where our plants originated.
